Paris, thing two!

Musée d'Orsay

Musée d’Orsay

Remember, Dear Reader, I said it was two things that I have to see when I go to Paris? As I said earlier, the Rodin Museum and the statue “Thinker” is one, thing two hangs in the Musée d’Orsay. An old railway station was converted into a museum and just the building itself is a must to see. The light spilling from the glass awning is hitting the different levels inside the museum in a beautiful way. This is architecture that talks big, and on the same time calms and gives a serene feeling. But, back to thing two, it hangs on a wall, it is 72.4 x 92 cm big, and it hits this Bitch right in the heart.

Thing two is called “Starry Night over the Rhone” (Arles) and it is a painting by Vincent Van Gogh. It hangs together with many other works of this painter genius, and it is just an explosion of color. Not in the way that it has many different colors and are bright and happy, no, this is one of many pictures, which shows the “colors of the night”. It has beautiful dark blue and green colors, and bright yellow and white colors which is used in all the stars and reflections. But it is dark, and one needs time to really “see” what the painting is showing. One needs to concentrate, and feel and try to get what Van Gogh tries to tell you.

I feel it is pure beauty, and on the same time it is dark, difficult and magical. It makes me wonder and sets my heart on fire. It attracts me with its beauty, it challenges me, and give me deep love on the same time. It shines, and give me peace. Seldom have I had a painting talk to me like this one does.

Dear Reader, there is beauty everywhere and we all have different taste, but this is worth a look.
